zessa: (x absconded from ceejayoz)
Here we go... It's time for me to get this off my chest in some sort of public forum. It's time for... THE POLITICAL RANT!

Yes, Boys and girls pull up a chair, get some beer, relax and let me entertain you with a rant.

The Iraqi Prisoner Scandal and Rumsfeld

The whole thing is abhorrent, disgusting and (I'm sorry to actually take something from Bush) completely un-American. This is not an example of our nation and am pretty confident in saying that just about everyone I know is disgusted and angry about it.

However, I am forced to wonder just how the hell something this big got ignored by the higher ups. Evidence suggests that Rumsfeld knew about it since at least January. If the Red Cross is to be believed, they knew about it months earlier.

So just where the fuck was Rumsfeld? Why the hell didn't he tell the president? Why all the hush hush until the reporter from New York broke it?

Something is rotten in the state of Denmark my friends...and it ain't the lutefisk.

We have to fire Rumsfeld. Why? It's simple...we are never going to get the trust back of *ANY* Arab nation until he's canned. He was in charge of this nations supposed war in Iraq and he let this happen.

This administration is doing what it's best at, the bait and switch. Or as my Anthropology Professor liked to joke, The "Woo! look at the bunny!" Method of government.

Reporter: Mr. President, just how long will solders be in Iraq?

Bush: A while, ::points behind the press:: Woo! Look a Bunny...

::The Press turns around and looks for the nonexistent bunny as Bush slips the economy into another cool 25 Billion in debt.::

For the sake of our already failing standing in International politics we have to fire Rumsfeld. Even if he's as innocent as a newborn babe (which I personally doubt) we have to save face.

The President's reaction to the whole thing...

Bush said earlier that Rumsfeld has done a superior job on the war on Terror.

My first reaction to that was the quite abrupt and angry "My Ass!"

A superior job? Leading us into a war that will be nearly impossible to end successfully? A superior job in misleading the public into thinking that there were WMD's in Iraq? A superior job in killing innocent Iraqi's and putting American troops in harms way possibly unnecessarily?

They're shoveling the bullshit so high right now that the nation is nearly choking on it. Once, Just once... I'd love someone from this administration step out and say "mea culpa...I fucked up! Sorry we're only human."

The arrogance of this administration only serves to anger the international community more. But now I'm going away from the facts and truly ranting...moving on...

Gay Marriage Ban and Pro-choice.

Yep, I will admit that, "I'm a lily-livered, bleeding-heart, liberal, egg head, communist."~ President Bartlet, The West Wing. I couldn't resist, Aaron Sorkin just put it so well.

I fully believe that Marriage is a right for to all individuals. Not just heterosexual individuals. You don't like it? Fine, go join a church that doesn't allow it and get the hell off our backs. Church and State should be separate. Last time we tried to legislate morality was prohibition, and look how well that turned out. Set up civil unions, give homosexual partners the same legal rights as heterosexual partners and fight the morality fight within the Churches.

Pro-choice, I dislike abortion but I'm pro-choice. If I ever found myself in a situation of an unwanted pregnancy I'd have it and give it up for adoption, I already know that. But I want that option of abortion there. you can be Pro-choice without being pro-abortion.

And with the firing off of two rather divisive topics... I'm signing off and leaving the political podium for a time. See ya back here soon.
